THE LEVEL OF HUNGER ON THE EARTH IS INCREASING!

According to current reports of the United Nations; More than 673 million people in the world are struggling with hunger due to many factors such as war, disaster, geographical conditions, pandemic and poverty. Africa continues to be the region most affected by this problem, with more than 333 million people unable to access sufficient and safe food. The highest risk group in terms of hunger is pregnant/breastfeeding mothers and children under 5 years of age.
In countries below the hunger line, 148 million children under the age of 5 cannot complete their development in a healthy way due to malnutrition. Severe hunger, malnutrition and chronic infection symptoms cause irreversible effects on children's physical and mental development.
In 2021 alone, a child or young person under the age of 5 died every 4.4 seconds due to malnutrition, while 1.9 million babies were born dead in the same period. In countries where hunger and humanitarian crises are at the highest level, more and more children lose their lives whenever medical nutrition treatment and medical supervision are not available.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

•  We open nutritional health centers in countries with the highest levels of severe hunger, and we provide medical nutrition treatments for pregnant/breastfeeding mothers and children under 5 years of age in the centers we open.
• Actively; We continue to provide treatments in the field of nutritional health at health centers in Yemen, Chad, Afghanistan and Somalia.
•  We also provide pediatric examination services for children, gynecological examination services for women, ultrasound and laboratory services for pregnant women, and medical formula support for babies suffering from malnutrition due to severe hunger.
•  We organize health trainings for nutrition nurses and midwives in our centers to increase local health capacity and reduce deaths due to malnutrition.
• We deliver food parcels as nutritional support to those in need at home and abroad.
• We are combating hunger in Gaza, where the humanitarian crisis has been increasing since October 7, and providing nutritional support to the people of the region.
• We support our nutrition activities with food parcel distribution and iftar organizations during Ramadan, and we reach those in need by slaughtering and distributing animals in more than 16 countries every year during the sacrificial periods.
•  Within the scope of nutritional health services, we have provided nutritional examinations to more than 1 million 300 people and nutritional treatment to more than 156 thousand people to date; We provided nutrition training to more than 3,600 people and reached more than 2 million beneficiaries.

Afghanistan Nutrition Health Centers

The centers, which started their services in 2019, provide medical nutrition treatment for pregnant/breastfeeding mothers and children under the age of 5, and also organize nutrition training for healthcare professionals and mothers. More than 921 thousand beneficiaries have been reached to date in the region served by a total of 15 health centers and 11 mobile teams.

Chad Sido Refugee Health Center

 The center, which started its services in 2016, has reached more than 303 thousand beneficiaries within the scope of nutritional examination and treatments in addition to primary health care services.

Somalia Mogadishu Health Center

The center, which started its operations in 2019, provides nutritional examination and nutritional treatment in addition to primary health services. To date, more than 186 thousand beneficiaries have been reached within the scope of health services.

Yemen Taiz Nutrition and Maternal Child Health Center

 The center started its activities in 2021; In addition to primary health care, pediatric and gynecological examinations, it also provides services in the field of nutritional health. It has reached more than 398 thousand beneficiaries to date with the services it has provided.
