What do We do?
Yeryüzü Doktorları visited the city of Aden in the south of the country to determine the shortages and needs of the region in terms of humanitarian conditions in Yemen in August after the March 2015 crisis. As a result of this need analysis, it was decided to work on nutrition health and as of May 2016, four nutritional health centres were established in Al-Sheikh, Dar Sad, Al-Mulla and Al-Borika regions of Aden city.
Yeryüzü Doktorları carried out nutritional health treatments that lasted for 3-6 months on average for mothers and children who are more disadvantaged against malnutrition in these centres. In addition to nutritional therapies, primary health care services were also provided and an average of 200 examinations per day were performed.
A total of 18 thousand 224 people were examined until September 2018. While 6 thousand 522 of the patients were taken into the nutrition program were children, 2 thousand 935 were women taken into the maternal nutrition examination.
In addition to nutritional health treatments, feeding support for babies suffering from chronic malnutrition was also provided by Yeryüzü Doktorları. So far, 2,800 boxes of food and 16,752 boxes of baby biscuits were distributed.
